Michelle- I was wondering what program you use for digital scrapbooking? I really know nothing about it, but am interested in learning. Do you actually print out the pages, too?
I have to warn you that scrapbooking can be addicting, but now that you are "with child", it's a perfect time to think about it!
I use Photoshop, but that is a very expensive program and not entry-level. The best program for beginners is Photoshop Elements, which runs about $80. My favorite scrapbooking website is http://www.scrapgirls.com/ This ebook is their introduction and I think would be very helpful for a beginner. Plus, it's free! Just click "download" in the box under the description.
I do print out my pages, but I am quite a bit behind in that. It gets expensive. Here is the website I use for that: http://www.sbtoshare.com/Digital.htm. I get the Matte 80lb text paper for $1.50 a sheet. At the time I found it, it was by far the cheapest I had ever seen. The only downside is that they add a thin white border around your pages. (Lots of reasons that are a little complicated, but that's how it is.) Another website I have used for printing is http://www.scrapbooksplease.com/. I think they are a little bit more money usually, but they have $ .99 sales (they are having one currently) and they print all the way to the edge of the paper. I have found that printed pages, put in a scrapbook are the PERFECT gift for grandparents!
The biggest benefit I get from my scrapbooking is both the creative outlet it gives me and the opportunity to enjoy photos again and again. As you know, most photos end up in a box or in a folder on your computer never to be seen again. I turn every page into a low resolution file and use them for my slide show screen saver (this is the version I post on my blog). I LOVE watching the pages scoll through on my monitor and sometimes I am reluctant to move the mouse and get back to work!
Have fun, and I really, I welcome any questions! I'm in the middle of a page right now, and I'm itching to get back to it, so off I go!
