Our church, Revolution, gave away a car today, to a first-time attender, as part of its Easter celebration month.
We have been inviting our friends, Garey and Sharon, for quite some time now, but things just never worked out. When the timing was finally right, it just so happened we were giving away this car:
After calling the names of seven other people who were not there, David Trotter glanced at the eighth name. He started off with, "I know these people are here and I can't pronounce their last name." Behind me, Tim started in with "It's them!"
Then David said they were from Lakewood, to which Tim said, "It's them!"
I replied, "You're making me nervous!"
Then came the zip code 90713. Again, Tim: It's them.
The clincher was the address. He began, "5." I finished with him, yelling out the address I know by heart for some reason...
They started screaming. I started screaming. I rushed up on stage with them, figuring since we invited them, I could share in their joy. And joy it was. We were all shaking and hugging.
So cool!!
It's taken a while for the shaking to stop. I couldn't be more excited than if I had won it myself.
God is doing amazing things in the life of this family, and I am privileged to get a front row seat.

WOW!!!! But do they know that you told everyone their address???? I might have to go over and check their new car out! Good for you Michelle for inviting them.

You described it perfectly... I will never stop reliving that moment, especially for my kids and their joy! We're so excited to be a part of a new family... and the car is just a little extra PERK!! Well, actually BIG PERK!! Now it's our turn to pay it forward and pass on some goodness to others. :)
Yeah!!!!!We are so excited that your friend won the car. Does she realize that not only do they have a new car, and a new church family but that they are the owners of the official pace car for the 4th of July parade? I was praying that the winners would be someone who knew someone that could invite them to the parade. So Sharon if you are reading this comment you and your family are invited to the Matulich 4th of July parade this July 4th at 11:00am.
That is fantastic, could not think of a better winner for the car. Congratulations for the car but also for being persistant in your invitation!
