Bad for America, Good for the Democrats

I hardly ever get political, even though it is a passion of mine. However this particular exchange, noted in the Washington Post on July 30th, really blew me away for the honesty betrayed.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party's efforts to press for a timetable to end the war. . . .

Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be "a real big problem for us."

Did you catch that? A positive report on the Iraq war would be "a real big problem" for Democrats. I can only assume failure in Iraq would be welcome news to these Democratic leaders. So if America is losing the war, the Democrats are cheering! Huh?!? Really? They really want to say positive news for America is bad for them? They might think that, but hearing those words come their of their mouths should definitely give them pause...

Whether you are for or against this war, I would shudder if I found myself in the position of cheering for bad news. I hope all Americans ultimately want America to be successful, but it seems the honest comment of this Representative betrays his real agenda.

Sad state of affairs to be sure. We are there and need to win and support the brave men and women who are there now.

I have been saddened to see that many people, not just those in the political conversations, find their self worth in the failures of others.

I hope that voters get on the ball when electing their representatives.

It's very sad that the leadership of the democrat party are rooting against their own country, but not surprising. Those who follow politics have known it for a while so at least now it's out in the open for everyone to see.
