No home phone

We just switched to FiOS, and in the process, we decided not to get our home phone up and running just yet. We are thinking about doing away with the home phone altogether. So if you have called my home yesterday or today or are thinking about tomorrow... sorry.

Call my cell/email me.

Anyone have a reason to keep the home phone? Should we just be done?

I have a lot of friends that no longer have a home phone or switched to Vonage. We were thinking about it a few years ago and I think the main issue was calling 911 from a cell. I'm sure it's changed by now.

The biggest drawback for me is long conversations with friends that will eat your cell minutes.

So, unless you are unlimited that may be a consideration

no reason I can think of except for us our alarm system is wired to our ground phone so we have to keep ours.

You're going to LOVE FiOS. I've had the data only service for about 1 and a half years and I have to say it's a dream, nothing touches the speed and consistency.

I have friends who have the TV & Phone services and love it. If you have a Nice TV the TV Picture quality is amazing, better than cable or satellite.

I have not had a traditional home phone line for about 3 years. We do have a VoIP phone line at home that costs about $20 / month and works fine, especially when you have amazing internet like you'll get with FiOS.

So instead of 1 phone number for your house... I have to have 3. One for you, one for Tim and one for the kids...

Make that 4 if we have to get the girls each a phone... someday we will catch up to your five numbers!

um... don't want to correct you, but I have 7 numbers.. don't forget the business and the fax as well as the home and cells...

gotta keep verizon and AT&T in business!

Now I need a switchboard to field all the calls!
