Some have asked how our Amazon sales are going.
Well...
So far we have sold 7 books. Not bad. We have about 40 listed and at least 100 more to go through. We also have about 100 so far that are worth less than $2 and I have discoverd it would actually cost us money to sell them. But more on that later...
Here are the prices we have sold them for so far:
2.97
2.88
1.23
3.49
14.99
4.99
3.94
For a grand total of $34.99.
And lets not forget the shipping costs paid by the buyer. At 3.99 per book, quite a bit more than the actual shipping cost of $2.13, the total money paid by all the buyers combined is $62.42!
Sounds great!
Oh yeah, then there is the little matter of the fees. Amazon charges $.99 for each listing and then $1.35 for each book plus 15% of the sale price. Shipping is the aforementioned $2.13 and packaging costs $.90 per envelope.
So what we actually received in real cash money for each book is:
1.14
1.07
-.33
1.59
11.36
2.86
1.97
For a grand total of $19.66.
So, that's how it's going. I'm glad to receive the extra money and the kids love listing the books. Since they are doing most of the work, I guess I come out ahead. I think if most of the books we have listed actually sell, we'll do just fine.

Details, details, it is all about volume - you can lose a little on each sale and make it up on VOLUME, isn't that the great "going out of business plan" that the dot-coms used? ;-)

You should be an accountant. I too, like Debbie, feel like I've just been in math class.
